Where the Light Finds the Earth explores the meeting point between an expansive, brooding sky and a richly textured landscape illuminated in gold.

Layers of ochre, mustard and warm earth tones move across the foreground, while cracked and fractured surfaces suggest land shaped by time, weather and erosion. Against this tactile terrain, the soft silver-grey sky creates a sense of distance and stillness.

Rather than depicting a particular place, the work evokes the atmosphere of the Australian landscape — its vastness, resilience and extraordinary ability to transform under changing light. The contrast between darkness and luminosity gives the painting a quiet sense of drama, as though light has momentarily broken through and settled across the land.

Medium: Acrylic paint, ink, plaster, sand, oil pastel, paper and polymers on board

Dimensions: 50cm (W) x 76cm (L) x 3.8cm

Framing and Finishing Details: The painting has been carefully sealed with varnish to preserve and protect its surface. It is presented in a wooden floating frame, that you can paint to suit your decor.Where the Light Finds the Earth explores the meeting point between an expansive, brooding sky and a richly textured landscape illuminated in gold.

“We were looking for a statement piece for our reception area that would immediately create an impression. Donna’s artwork has done exactly that. It has a wonderful sense of movement and depth, and the texture gives the painting a presence that simply doesn’t come across in a photograph. It has become a real talking point with visitors.”
