The Language of Layers is a series of three mixed-media works exploring the relationship between memory, history and the layers of everyday life.

Constructed through fragments of newspaper, printed text, gestural marks, geometric forms and richly textured surfaces, each painting reveals and conceals its own story. Ochre, muted greens, charcoal, black and white create a restrained yet earthy palette, while repeated elements connect the three works visually.

The newspaper fragments suggest moments captured in time, while the handwritten marks and overlapping surfaces evoke memories that are never entirely clear or complete. Layers are built up, interrupted and partially obscured, creating a sense of something discovered rather than deliberately revealed.

Although the three works share a common visual language, each possesses its own rhythm, balance and character. Together they become a conversation between what is remembered, what is recorded and what is left behind.

Each work is an original, one-of-a-kind piece, created through a process of layering, mark-making and intuitive composition.
