This work explores the dense, layered vegetation of Broughton Creek and the constant tension between growth, decay and regeneration within the landscape. Deep greens, softened greys and earthy tones overlap and fragment across the surface, suggesting tangled foliage, shadowed undergrowth and glimpses of light filtering through.

Rather than depicting the landscape literally, the painting captures its energy and complexity. Areas of darkness and compression are interrupted by lighter passages and expressive marks, creating a sense of vegetation pushing, twisting and competing for space. The textured surface reinforces the physicality of the environment—lush, unruly and continually changing.

The work reflects the contrasts found within the Berry landscape: light and shadow, delicacy and density, stillness and movement, growth and deterioration.
