Charcoal Tempest is a dark, moody abstract landscape dominated by oppressive skies and rugged terrain. Swirling strokes of obsidian, graphite, and slate crash together like a storm. Light is scarce, with only brief flashes of muted white piercing through the gloom to highlight the turbulent, shadowy earth.

The landscape is raw and unforgiving, characterised by undefined shapes suggesting mountains. There is a of rough, tactile ground. The colours give the terrain an intense, smouldering quality.

The artwork evokes a feeling of isolation, raw energy, and foreboding.

“Find the chaos, and from it the beauty will emerge. It is like carving a sculpture out of the chaotic forms, always pushing and pulling the light and darkness”.

Josh Hernandez

“We were looking for a statement piece for our reception area that would immediately create an impression. Donna’s artwork has done exactly that. It has a wonderful sense of movement and depth, and the texture gives the painting a presence that simply doesn’t come across in a photograph. It has become a real talking point with visitors.”
