This work was painted for an exhibition with the Shellharbour Art Society.

As an artist I tend to paint large paintings – this is my attempt at something small. This painting vividly captures the intensity of a summer storm sweeping across Berry Mountain. The sky is dominated by heavy, dark clouds that press low over the mountain peaks, creating a sense of anticipation and drama. These clouds cast deep, shifting shadows across the valley and the rolling hills below, transforming the landscape into a moody and atmospheric scene.

The interplay between light and dark within the composition is particularly striking, as flashes of brightness pierce through the gloom, highlighting the powerful contrasts created by the storm. This dramatic effect serves to evoke the formidable presence of nature, immersing the viewer in the raw energy and emotion of a fierce summer storm.

The painting is sealed with varnish and has a wooden floating frame. You need to seal the frame if you want the natural look or paint it any colour to suit your decor.
