The Dry River Braid - Aerial Perspective of Impending Drought presents an abstract interpretation of the landscape, viewed from above, to illustrate the impact of drought on the river and its surroundings. The composition focuses on the gradual desiccation of the waterway as drought conditions persist. As the river dries, it becomes disconnected from itself, ultimately forming two isolated bodies of water.
Surrounding the river, the farmlands are depicted in shades of brown, highlighting the severity of the drought. Nevertheless, there remain pockets of green in the landscape, though these areas are no longer as vibrant or lush as they once were. The river’s winding, braided appearance visually conveys its struggle and yearning for rainfall, serving as a central metaphor within the artwork.
